trictrewt!

so it's the last day of october which means only one thing: candies! as cayman would say. we had a small problem this year with cayman's costume, he refused to wear it! last year i made him 'super baby' and this year i figured he'd be 'thomas the train.' he was super excited about making his costume but nearly half as excited about wearing it. bummer!

so, what's a mom to do, but to figure out a way to make it work! i rigged up his train costume to sit on his shopping cart and let him push it around! worked great! we tested it out at my cousin terrance's high school trick-or-treat on friday night. perfect!

saturday evening, after much fussing over eating his dinner, i took cayman over to tante beate and uncle marvin's cul de sac to show off his costume and to trick-or-treat over there. he did great pushing his train from house-to-house and collecting his loot. when we returned home, aaron and terrance had planned to take cayman around our neighborhood.

well, they made it to the end of the driveway and cayman decided he wanted nothing to do with pushing his train. then he decided he wanted nothing to do with carrying his bucket. and then, he wanted nothing to do with walking! aaron carried him and terrance carried his bucket and they made their rounds, to TWO houses! apparently the neighbor's scary music, the dark night and the costumes were all too much for cayman.

well, until sunday night after dinner when cayman decided he needed to go trick-or-treating again. he put on his shoes, pushed his train to the door and threw down. i took him out on our porch, only after he requested his jacket, and let him trick-or-treat at our door. i figured that would be enough, WRONG! he wanted to go the whole neighborhood! which resulted in a throw down and all out war in the bathtub. let's see what monday night holds!

choo choo: chugging along to 2!

so since we just moved to colorado, our playfriends are rather limited. but that's okay because we can turn cake and chili into a party regardless of how many folks show up!

for cayman's second birthday, his halmonie and granddad from virginia flew in as well as his aunt necie from nashville. along with our east coast family, my tante beate (tante oma) and my cousin/niece came over. and as military blessings would be, my deployment buddy just happens to be home with her parents while her hubby is deployed and came down with her kiddos and her mom. so, needless to say, we had a house full anyways!

since cayman's obessed with trains right now, my crafy-self decided i would make his cake. lets just say duff won't be calling me to be on the ace of cakes anytime soon. but hey, it actually looked like a train. and was yummy too!

no games or crafts this year, but lots of playing outside! yes, outside! sure, it snowed last weekend, but this weekend it was beaut-i-ful!

thanks for all the great gifts and for sharing in this special day with us!

732 days

some 732 days ago, that's 2 years and 1 day and counting, our world became a brigher, more challenging, cozier, warm-fuzz-filled place. at 7:59 am dr.misko pulled from my belly the best blessing ever, an 8lb, 21 inche-long beautiful baby boy who has made everyday worth living and made each day more special then the one before.

can you believe it! our little boy is 2 already! where did the time go? when did the little bity baby that could curl up on aaron's chest become nearly as long as his daddy's torso? when did that tiny little baby who slept most of the day turn into a high-energy bouncy ball of joy? when did the cooing bundle of joy turn into a three-word sentence machine who knows what he wants? when did our little baby who needed us for everything become a toddler who can keep up with the big kids and then some? in the last 732 days our little baby boy has grown to a toddler who can do most anything he sets his mind to and never stops amazing us! we love you little man! can't wait to see what the next 365 days hold for us!

first snow!

so for the last 2 years, cayman has never lived north of the mason dixen line. sure he's visited his grandparents in virginia, but as far as actually living somewhere that requires more then shorts and flip flops for fall, this is a first. and so was the snow!

yes, it's only the second week of october, just a few days before our little man turns 2, and there has already been snow! and let me tell you, cayman doesn't know what to think of it! he's terrified of the cold. and the snow, he has mixed feelings about it. i'm sure once there's actually enough to play in, he'll be excited, but as for now, mixed reviews.

and you thought we traveled too much before

so i've learned that four flights in one day is our limit when it comes to cayman and i flying. recently we took two flights back east to nashville to spend the week with auntie necia and other family members while i was in a wedding. those two flights weren't too bad. we, well cayman mostly, spent the week catching up with auntie necia and halmonie and granddad.
cayman's gotten to where he's okay without me as long as he feels reassured that i'm coming back for him. well, that was two weeks ago. fast forward to now. if aaron or i leave the room, he's just two steps behind us. i'm sure the three days of bridesmaid duties had something to do with that. but, i'm sure he'll grow beyond that again. plus, so long there's a train and some ice cream around, he'll be just fine.

after a week in nashville, with an overnight stay in madison, we hopped on our first of four flights! cayman did okay during the first flight. well, during the second flight he decided that his stomach just didn't like his breakfast anymore and up it came at 36,000 ft. up. no need to panic, i had plenty of wipes with me and an empty seat next to our two seats. somehow we managed to have our own set of seats each flight! the challenge of the day actually came during our super long layover in tucson. after two more flights we finally made it to colorado and were set to search for our new house.

after a week of house hunting and visiting with our family up in colorado springs, i'm sure i speak for everyone in the family, we're just glad to be home and have nothing on our calendar for the next few weeks!

touch, touch, touch, discover

since cayman was able to reach things, he's been discovering. he use to use his mouth to discover with, but fortunately he has out grown that stage, for the most part. it's fascinating to watch him touch and discover new things everyday. he likes to study everything he touches, learning how it works, what it does, it's purpose and then he tries to find a new purpose for it!
